The IHT reports:
In announcing new rules governing the foreign media in China, the official news agency Xinhua warned against journalism that threatened the country's national unity, incited hatred, propagated obscenity and undermined "the fine cultural traditions of the Chinese nation."
Yet much more than morals or national security, the new regulations seem to center on a battle over money, analysts and media executives say.
