The American Foreign Policy Council notes:
A U.S. court has convicted university professor Gao Zhan of selling sensitive U.S. microprocessor technology that could be used in missiles to the People’s Republic of China. Gao's activities reflect Beijing's intensified campaign to steal U.S. military and civilian technology. " China is the No. 1 counterintelligence threat to the United States," Dave Szady, the FBI's former top counterespionage official, has told MSNBC. "The Chinese are very good at using multiple redundant collection platforms [including] students, delegations, visitors, researchers, development, partnerships, business deals and false front companies." There are currently said to be about 400 investigations involving illegal exports to China active in the United States.
