For the second day in a row, I have to start off a post, in classic Dave Barry fashion, with the words ”I am not making this up.” Unless China Daily is pulling our collective legs and going all-out satire on us:
Disney has initiated an online psychotherapy to relieve students from school-related anxiety before the new semester begins.
“It is often the case with students to be anxious for school after long holidays,” said Huang Chen, director of Corporate Communications of the Walt Disney Company (Shanghai) Ltd.
Disney invited three local psychologists to have talks with students through microblog at sina.com.cn, trying to make them at ease when facing a new approaching semester, said Huang.
OK, well, maybe Disney is not exactly providing fee-for-pay counseling services just yet. But who knows? Perhaps this was just a trial balloon, a test, a proof of concept. If this goes well, maybe next door to each Disney store or Disney English branch will be a small psych center where troubled tots can go for advice.
